Grayscale Project
The project is for the student to take a color photograph, painting, or illustration and translate it into grayscale. They use Color-aid grayscale paper and cut the shapes out. They are not allowed to draw or paint or do anything but cut the pieces out of grayscale paper and glue them down. The size limit is 9″x12″.

Line and Motion
Each work is roughly 3′x5′ and had to address the problem of line and motion.

Animation
This is not the actual assignment for my class. The animation below is taken from a project this student did for my class. It was a drawing.
3 inch Squares
Each student created 100 3 inch squares out of paper and marked each one. They then had to create a composition using the squares to fill an 18″x24″ piece of paper.

Casting and Working in a Series
Here we have some casting projects that required working in parts or in a series. There is also one wood project that engages the viewer in play.
Line and Empty Space in Sculpture
Each work is at least 40″ in one direction. The goal here was to use linear elements to break up empty space yet make that empty space part of the sculpture.
